  does this ever cross the mind of your average jw?.

  can you even begin to imagine what that would look like or even smell like?.

  what about the effect of these scenes on the mind of children, even adults?.

  The witnesses would quickly speak against any genocide going on today or in the past caused by men. When it comes to God, their eyes glaze over and they don't imagine what it would really be like.

  It is good to bring up an example of genocide to them, Nazi, Germany, Rwanda, etc. and ask if they agreed with those. Then remind them that this genocide they preach about would be on a much more massive scale than any in the past or present.

  They may not seem to hear, but later it may surface in their thoughts and force them to actually picture such a horrific scene. It helped me.

  I liked the comment by a sports channel last night. The guy said that Serena represents the best and the worst in woman's tennis today. She plays part time and messes up the rating system, not really dedicated to the sport.

  The good part is how well she plays and how gifted she is naturally.

  As far as getting in trouble, I doubt that matters much to her. I don't think she is baptized and I doubt they will do anything to her.

  Tribute to Kim Clijsters

  today is kim clijsters' birthday and a month ago she announced her retirement from tennis.

  i remember the week she was born very well.

  i have watched tennis since the late '70s, and i remember when billie jean king was a star, when jimmy connors was a hot new thing, and when "virginia slims" matches were shown on wtbs.

  Yep, that was the one. She was penalized a point for smashing her racket. The foot fault may have been a bad call, but there was no excuse for the profanity and threats to the lines lady. Serena did not apologize for ruining the match at the press conference.

  Kim was playing great, like she had never left tennis. She really deserved to win and I think she would have won anyway.

  Serena forgot to thank Jehovah like she usually does at the end.

  I'm not sure what all of that was, but it took a long time to scroll down past it. Back to the topic.

  I understand why some find those, who know better, still serving as elders objectionable. I couldn't do it. On the other side of the story, most on here are glad to get info from current elders. There have been letters to the elders posted here and we often get info about coming changes on here before it is announced to the congos.

  We all leave or stay for different reasons. Who are we to judge another? In reality, elders are no more than any other humans. It is a made up position of nonsense to make small men feel important.

  i know she sometimes comes off as a wackjob (as do most jdubs, which she was formerly) but how many of you are buying the michael was murdered story?

  i must say that when she was married to jack gordon (whom on tonights show was once again mentioned that she was abused by him) the both of them regularly appeared on howard stern's radio show.

  she dropped two bombshells on howard's show that i remember, although we're going back ten or more years:.

  I doubt it was intentional. Reckless homicide, maybe? Michael has to be blamed for his part in the mess. It is pretty over the top to have yourself put to sleep each night with an anesthetic used for surgery.

  It is a shame because he left behind 3 kids who loved him.

  Should Elderly People Be Forced To Show ID If They Want To Buy Alcohol?

  in a local convenience store, the owners have installed an id checker for anyone purchasing alcohol.

  they require you to put your id in this machine to determine whether or not you are of legal age.

  even if you are 85 years of age, you have to comply or you can't buy a beer!.

  The first time it happened to me, I was flattered. The second time, it irritated me. I had seen the place get busted for selling to minors the month before so I wouldn't doubt that had something to do with the carding.

  Maybe they have to go on some kind of probation and implement the carding of everyone to keep their liquor license. I still would feel uncomfortable having my license scanned. I wouldn't care too much about them just checking my license to verify my age. Even if it is rather silly.

  Then there is the thought that maybe I don't want to support a place that sells to minors to begin with.

  does anyone else work in the insurance industry, or are you involved in regulations or benefits plan design and administration?

  if so, would you be interested in a discussion of the speech and perhaps healthcare reform's anticipated impact on their own profession?.

  It seems to work for some people. If you are the kind of person that needs to be told what to do and when to do it, you might enjoy being a Jw. I call these type of people "institutional type personalities". They do well with a regimented lifestyle where little is left to personal choice.

  Bethel service is institutionalized living. So is pioneering, being an elder, ms or just conforming closely to all the various rules and the regimen of the witnesses.

  There is another kind of person that it seems to work for also. That is born-ins who can take or leave anything they choose to from the rules of the jws without a second thought. They have learned how to get/do what they want in spite of the religion.

  They are able to ignore anything that won't get them outright dfd. They party, drink, seek higher education, celebrate their birthdays in a roundabout way, dress as they please and just ignore any counsel to do more. It is just a social club for them.

  So, yeah, it works for some, but you never know when it might quit working. Life is always right outside the door and a wake-up call could come any time.

  It will be interesting to see whether the salaries of healthcare workers will be affected. I work as a nurse and I have a friend in medical school right now. She is kinda nervous that caps will be placed on new doctors and it will be difficult to recap the money spent on schooling and make a good living too.

  Elders Trash Face Book

  just found out that elders and spies are trolling face book and my space.

  some elders in xxx congregation began trolling face book looking for wayward souls and using the links to other friends etc to get more info.

  they waited until they had enough ammo on the 'friends' and then printed off some of the conversations being had....questioned the 'friends' who of course denied everything..and then they produced the printed copies to catch them in the lies.

  It is really hard to believe that a religion would spy on its members on the internet. It just screams mind control cult. Can you imagine a Catholic priest or a Methodist minister doing something like that?

  Sad part is that I know it is true. A young man here was dfd for things he posted on the internet.
